Obituary for Alexander David McFarland

McFarland, Alexander David "Alex" Dec 17, 1998 May 25, 2019 age 20, was a kind and loving young man who lived a remark- able life that was cut far too short. His family and friends said goodbye to Alex on Saturday, May 25, 2019. He now joins his older sister Kayla, grandmother Lona, and beloved dog Tucker in Heaven. He leaves behind a heartbroken extended circle of family and friends including, mother Kelly Peterson Freeman (Chad), father David McFarland (Jackie), brothers Josh, Hunter and Jake, sister Shyla, grandparents Larry Peterson (Sherry), Dick and Joyce McFarland, multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins, and countless friends. Alex had a love of all things outdoors including, a passion for fishing, hunting, and ATVing with family and friends. He was never happier than with a hat on his head and a knife, gun or rod and reel in his hand. Alex's huge heart, wide grin and quirky personality filled the space when he was present. He was both playful and soulful. And while - as his beloved sister notes you experienced both 'ups and downs' with him, it was impossible to stay annoyed at him for very long. He will be deeply missed. While we mourn Alex's passing, we also celebrate his gift of life: As an organ donor, Alex left a legacy of love in his care for others. The family would like to thank the countless medical staff for their exceptional care and compassion at the Hibbing ED, the Life-Flight crew, St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth and Life-Source. We will forever be thankful! A celebration of Alex's life open house will be on Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 3pm to 6pm at Huber Funeral Home, 520 Second Street, Excelsior, MN 55331. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Alex's favorite places.
