Obituary for
Virginia Jean "Ginny" LaFavor (MacMillan)
Virginia Jean LaFavor [nee MacMillan], age 92, departed this earth July 11th to be reunited with her beloved husband, Bob, family and friends. Born in 1925, Ginny, as she was known by those closest to her, was raised in St. Paul, graduated from Hill Murry High School, and the University of Minnesota with a degree in Dental Hygiene. Along with her love of animals, Ginny was an avid lover and student of the game of golf. She volunteered for many years with the United States Golf Association on various committees. Her Scottish heritage, along with her intense knowledge of the rules of golf, was shared by many women and men in the tournaments Ginny managed. Her deep devotion of the U.S.G.A. was recognized when she was awarded the Isaac B Grainger for 25 years of service. The only thing that could match her knowledge of golf was her smooth swing. She cherished her home, pets, lake and car, often stating she could drive better than she could walk. She managed to experience all those wonderful things until the very end.
Preceded in death by her husband, Bob; father, Dave MacMillan; mother, Ilda MacMillan; and brother, David MacMillan. Survived by son, Robert LaFavor; daughter in law, Rebecca [Lukkason] LaFavor; and granddaughter, Aandrea LaFavor; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Wednesday, July 18th from 1:00pm-3:00pm at Huber Funeral Home, 1801 Commerce Blvd, Mound, MN 55364. We would like to extend a special thanks to the medical teams at Ridgeview Waconia Hospital, Hillcrest of Wayzata, and Brookdale Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be sent to the Animal Human Society.
A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend will be missed but not forgotten.
