Obituary for Melissa Irene "Mel" Buss (Buss)

Melissa Irene Buss “Mel”, Age 30 of Eden Prairie, MN passed away unexpectedly at Fairview Southdale, Edina on July 6th, 2018. Melissa provided lifesaving gifts by donating her liver and kidneys.

Melissa was born on April 13th, 1988 in Robbinsdale, MN. She is the beloved daughter of Tim and DeAnn (Wolff) Buss. Melissa was baptized shortly after on April 13th by Reverend Henry Fry. Melissa was confirmed on October 26, 2003 by Pastor Rod Anderson at St. Andrew, Eden Prairie. Melissa graduated from Eden Prairie High School in 2007, where she lettered in drama performing the annual Y’s Act Play. She worked at MRCI in Chaska.

Melissa came into this world prematurely and spent three months in the North Memorial NICU. Near the end of July, Melissa was transferred to Minneapolis Children’s Hospital under the care of Dr. Bill Wheeler. She became strong enough to go home on Halloween. Her last day on the vent was June 11th, 1989.

Melissa had incredible spirit and was a tremendous fighter, overcoming many medical challenges. As Melissa grew, she developed her beautiful wit and charm that we all loved. She could also be quite devious. She was a kind-hearted person who brought much happiness into the lives of those she touched. Her favorite time of the year was summer. Melissa was an avid milk drinker. Melissa loved swimming, reading, researching topics on the internet, boating and mostly spending time with her family.

Melissa was preceded in death by grandparents Lew and Marceil Buss, Elaine Wolff; great grandparents Elvira Wolff, Emma and Hilmer Lemke, Hazel Killinger and cousin Ashley Meuwissen.

Melissa is survived by her loving parents, Tim and DeAnn Buss, brother Corey Buss, sister Megan Buss, grandfather Duane Wolff (Young America), aunts, uncles, cousins, great aunts and uncles, nurse and special friend, Melanie Voris (St James City, FL), other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service Friday, July 13th, 10:30am (Pastor David Lillejord, Officiant) at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 13600 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie. Visitation Thursday, 4:00 – 8:00pm with Prayer Service at 7:30, Huber Funeral Home, 16394 Glory Lane, Eden Prairie and one hour prior to the service at the church.
