Dan Slattery, age 47, of Mound, MN was prematurely received into heaven on April 21, 2018. He was born in Mt. Vernon, NY on May 27, 1970. Dan is survived by his dear wife Annel Rabino Slattery and three young children, Danella, age 2, and twin boys, Liam and Conor, 10 months. Dan is the son of William and Joan Slattery of Greenwood, MN. Dan is also survived by his three brothers, John, Robert his spouse Linda and their children Arianna & Shannon and his youngest brother Kevin. Dan will be deeply missed by numerous extended loving family and friends.
Dan was raised in Mt. Vernon, NY and Darien, CT, then Paris, France, Dallas, TX and Tustin, CA, before arriving in MN in 1987. He attended Minnetonka HS and graduated from UND in 1994. Dan was the epitome of the “free spirit” and spent the summer after graduation on a salmon boat in Alaska, then stopped at a job fair in Denver on his way back and took a job in Antarctica, instead of returning to MN.
Eventually Dan returned to Mn and worked for C H Robinson and then moved on from there to Cargill in their Agricultural division, as a Sr. Merchant. In his position, he often traveled to Asia, where he met Annel, who came to the US on fiancé visa and they married on September 27, 2015.
While Dan and Annel had only 3 years together, they were truly in love and those three years were the happiest in Dan’s short life. They were made spiritually richer by the arrival of their three children. We embrace and appreciate your prayers for our dear Annel and their children.
Visitation will be Thursday April 26 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Huber Funeral Home, 16394 Glory Lane, Eden Prairie, MN 55344. Funeral Service will take place on Friday, April 27th at 10:00am at St. Therese Catholic Church, 18325 Minnetonka Blvd, Wayzata, MN 55391. Visitation will also be held there 1hr prior to mass. Burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery; concluding with luncheon.
In Dan’s honor we have set up an educational trust to support Annel moving forward. In lieu of flowers we encourage you to contribute in any way possible. The trust is the “W Dan Slattery Educational Trust” for the benefit of educating his children. Any memorials should be direct and sent to the Trust, % of Excelsior Investors, 34 Water St., Suite 8, Excelsior, MN 55331.
Anyone who knew Dan, knows he lived more in those short 47 years, than many who live twice that long. The Slattery family cannot adequately express their appreciation for all the prayers, sympathy and affection received at this difficult time.
