It is with great sadness that the family of Louis Peter Smith announce his passing on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the age of 56 years. Peter will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Tracey and his children, Benjamin and Emily, his mother, Joyce, and two sisters Stephanie (Scott) Fowler and Allison (Brian) Luedtke. Peter also leaves 6 nieces and nephews who fondly remember him as "Uncle Pete". He was preceded in death by his father, Louis. Peter grew up in Indianola, Iowa, and attended Iowa State University where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering. Peter was affiliated with Sigma Alpha Epsilon national fraternity and epitomized what it meant to be a "True Gentleman". He had an insatiable need to solve problems and was known as the "Fix-it Guy" to his many friends because of his ability to fix anything motorized, electrical, computerized, or anything having to do with building construction and repair. Peter developed deep connections with others, always willing to help, was a great listener, and able to lift others in time of need. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Peter's life on November 27, 2017, 11 AM at Huber Funeral Home, 16394 Glory Lane, Eden Prairie. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity in the name of L. Peter Smith. Reception will follow at the family home.
