Obituary for Victoria "Vickey" Brouillette (Cardosi)

Brouillette, Victoria "Vickey" L. (Cardosi) (August 21, 1937 July 26, 2018) Vickey Brouilllettte, age 80 of Minnetonka, Minnesota and formerly Kankakee, Illonois, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, after a brief battle with cancer. Vickey was born in Kankakee, Illinois on August 21, 1937 to Dorothy May (Schafer) and Joseph Patrick Cardosi. She was the youngest of five siblings and is proceeded in death by her parents; brother (John), sister (Dorothy) and husband (Eugene). Vickey grew up in the Kankakee, Illinois. She graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic School and Kankakee High School (1955). She attended Northern Illinois Univ-ersity and completed her degree at Olivet Nazarene College. She earned a Bachelors of Art in Education with an emphasis in Physical Education and Coaching. As a youth, she taught swimming lessons and was a lifeguard. Her love of water trans-cended her entire life and she taught people of all ages to swim, directed Aquatic Programs and was an advocate who promoted Pool Therapy to people with Special Needs or in need of rehabilitation. Vickey was a teacher and taught children from preschool through high school in regular and special education classrooms in a variety of School Districts; introduced Animal Assisted Therapy into classrooms; helped people with Developmental Disabilities; pro-vided care and education to home-bound and terminally ill individuals; was a Personal Care Attendant and Real Estate Agent. She volunteered at a variety of organizations; was an active member at St. Therese Catholic Church; participated in numerous political campaigns; was a Board Member on Trails For Tonka, Bennett Family Park and Minnetonka / Hopkins Gymnastics Programs; a Guardian Ad Litem; Booster Club member for Minne-tonka Athletics and Music pro-grams and a gardener at local floral shops. She received numerous awards for her achieve-ments, community involvement and educational contributions. Vickey married her high school sweat heart Eugene L. "Butch" Brouillette III and they shared a 65 year relationship and 57 year marriage prior to his passing in 2015. As his career developed, they relocated to Pennsylvania, Chicago & Minnesota. They made Minnesota home, raised their family & resided in Minnetonka for 49 years. They had three children: Eugene L. "Gigi" Brouillette IV, Dr. Michelle A. "Toni" Brouillette, Jennifer C. "Jenny" McKinney. Although extremely active in the Minnetonka community, Vickey's main focus in life was to be a parent, grandparent & faith based person. She practiced her Catholic teachings daily. She and Butch shared a love for athletics, so throughout her life they coached youth, volunteered and developed youth programs, were honored by the Minnetonka School Board for years of service in the athletic department & attended their child-ren and grandchildren's numerous athletic events. A great cheerleader who rooted for both teams, Vickey brought enthusiasm to every game. Vickey is survived in death by her devoted children Gigi (Jane), Toni and Jenny; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends whom she loved. A gathering of family and friends will start at 10 am at St. Therese Catholic Church 18323 Minnetonka Blvd, Deephaven, Minnesota (952-473-4422) on August 21, 2018 to celebrate her birthday and life. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 am and a church luncheon will follow the Mass. Vickey and Butch's final resting place will be at Kank-akee Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kankakee, Illinois. Vickey's family would like to express deep gratitude and thanks for all those individuals who touched her life in such a positive and caring way.
