James Herbert Van Guilder "Jim"
Born September 13, 1936, Jim grew up in the Deephaven area, graduating from Minnetonka High School. He was then married and with his family lived in Eden Prairie. Jim worked as a bricklayer until early retirement due to Rheumatoid Arthritis. In his retirement he worked at golf courses Deer Run and Chaska Town Course. In his last days fighting Alzheimer’s he resided with his wife back in his home area of Deephaven, at Deephaven Woods Senior Living Community. Jim’s interests and community participation from childhood through his adult life included football, baseball, golf and fishing.
Survivors include – Wife, Marian (Von Eschen) Van Guilder of Deephaven. Children: Debbie (VG) & Bryon Bequette of Chanhassen, Steve & Kathy Van Guilder of Savage, Pam (VG) & Pat McLaughlin of Vermont. Grandchildren: Chris & Tanja Buckner, Jenny & Greg Winegarden, Kelly & Jadi Taveras, Brian & Liz McLaughlin, Dave McLaughlin & Katharine Stanton, Alexandra Van Guilder, Tom & Kristy Bequette, Stephen Bequette, and John Bequette. Great Grandchildren: Kinsley, Collins & Max Winegarden; Elisabeth Buckner; Zuri Taveras; Isabella, Marriella & Savannah McLaughlin. He is preceded in death by: Father and Mother, Lloyd & Ruth (Emerson) Van Guilder; Brothers: Wally and Donny Van Guilder; Sisters: Donna (VG) Wilson and Irene Van Guilder and Grandson: David Bequette.
Services will be held 3 PM Saturday, March 31st at Huber Funeral Home, 16394 Glory Lane Eden Prairie, presided by Pastor John Rogers. Visitation starting at 2 PM. Burial will be followed for immediate family at a later date. Please note the family appreciates this is a Holiday weekend and very much knows that attendance may not be possible, knowing that you will be with them in spirit.
