Obituary for Lawrence "Larry" Morrow

Morrow, Lawrence Reid Lawrence Morrow and Alice Bjorkman were married on July 19, 1949. Larry described that day as "the greatest in his life by far". Alice died on June 23, 2017. That day was the saddest in Larry's life by far. Larry was 100% certain that when he died he would be with Alice again. Larry joined Alice on November 2, 2017. Larry lived every minute of life to the fullest. He had a successful business career that enabled his family to enjoy much of what life has to offer. Larry balanced the demands of work with the joys of family at times risking career advancement. He loved his wife, Alice, and sons, Jim and Scott above all else. Larry was an involved father. He played with Jim and Scott when they were children, was their biggest cheerleader and was always there to listen. Through his example he instilled in his sons; honesty, compassion, kindness and generosity. Perhaps this is his legacy passed to his grandson Kris and great grandchildren Nick and James. After he retired Larry delivered Meals on Wheels in the metro area of Richmond VA. He became Chairman of the Board and during his tenure increased the number of meals served from 200 to 750. Larry served on the Board of Directors of the country club he and Alice belonged to where he was instrumental in moving the club from a white male dominated club to a club that accepted women and minorities as members and officers. Larry had a quick wit and a great sense of humor that he never lost and he kept those around him laughing to the end. Larry was curious about the world and the people in it. He enjoyed discussions about current events especially with those whose perspective was different from his. Larry enjoyed meeting new people and spending time with old friends. He could be counted on to be the life of the party and to be the compassionate friend when needed. When Larry was 72 years old he started what would be a nine year project writing about his history, the world he lived in and how events affected him. He began with, "It seems to me, I've lived in the best of all times". Larry was born a twin on August 2, 1925 in Lawson Missouri. The bond he and his sister, Lindsay, shared continued throughout their lives to the day he died. Larry will be missed by all who knew him. Don't take any wooden nickels. Larry!
