Life Story for Kelly McElrath
Kelly Dean McElrath, was born on November 21, 1964 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Bertel J. Sr. And LaDora (Holford) McElrath. He has 5 sisters and 2 brothers. His family moved to Minnesota when he was 2 years old. He attended St. Francis High in St. Francis, MN and graduated from Austin Community College in Austin, MN.
Kelly moved to Albert Lea, MN where he owned his own carpentry business for many years. He was certified as a Truss Technician from WTCA. The slogan for his company was "from footings to shingles". After graduating from Austin, he enjoyed teaching at the Youth Anger Management Program. While living in Mound he worked from home to buy, repair and sell vehicles. He loved doing carpentry, mechanics and helping people in any way he could. There was seemingly no end to his growing heart for those in need.
He enjoyed camping and being outdoors with his family and friend. There is no doubt that Kelly absolutely loved his two boys K.C. and Caleb. They meant the world to him. Raising them on his own for most of their childhood and continued to be a beacon for them into adulthood.
Kelly died and went to be with Jesus on Friday November 3, 2017 at the age of 53. He was proceeded in death by his parents and one bother-in-law Dave Moore. He is survived by his loving fiancée, Cindy DeVoe, his two children: (K.C) Kelly C. McElrath of St. Cloud and Caleb D. McElrath (and special friend Gretchen Anderson) of Delano. Two brothers: (Macky)Bertel J. McElrath Jr. of Park Rapids, MN, Norris (wife Mary) McElrath of Braham, MN. Three sisters: Carol Moore of Oklahoma, Darla (husband Lyle) Wipplinger of Kiester, MN, Norene Spar of Arizona, Jada (husband Jody) Nowling of Alaska and many nephews and nieces.
