Obituary for Dale Alberts

Dale Alberts
Dale A. Alberts, age 69, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16th, 2017. A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Dale lived his life of faith and service and with deep love for his family. Born on February 7, 1948, he spent his early years in St. Paul Park, MN. Dale enjoyed sports and as a three-sport athlete, excelled at St. Paul Park High School and Hamline University. Upon graduation, Dale enlisted in the U.S. Army and was assigned to the Military Police Corps at West Point Military Academy. After completing his service, he returned to the Twin Cities and began working in sales at Northwestern Bell where he met his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Rothstein. Dale and Mary were married on July 31, 1976, making their home in Eden Prairie for 32 years. Dale spent many years as a financial advisor for AXA Advisors before retiring from the industry in 2002.

Dale held a deep devotion to his Christian faith and immersed himself in the Prairie Hill Evangelical Free Church community in Eden Prairie. His commitment to service was a priority and he actively volunteered with Bridging Inc., Minnesota Teen Challenge, and the Union Gospel Mission. He founded and championed AWSOM (All Win Spiritual Outreach Ministry), a charitable organization which supports the many needs of local underprivileged communities. He loved his family dearly and was very active in his children’s activities, including coaching for many years in the Eden Prairie baseball and softball programs. Inspired by the outdoors, he could be found on a golf course, softball diamond, or a lake at every possible opportunity. His love and commitment to his family will be dearly missed.

Dale is survived by his wife, Mary, four children: Gretchen (Eric), Libby (Ryan), Andrew (Kelly) and Stephen (Jaclyn); four grandchildren: Jackson, Calvin, Makenna and Theodore; sister Sharron Schmidt (Ron) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Arvilla, and brother Jim.

Memorials may be sent to AWSOM (250 Prairie Center Drive, #203, Eden Prairie, MN 55344) and Prairie Hill Evangelical Free Church (17200 Valley View Rd, Eden Prairie, MN 55346). A celebration of Dale’s life will be held on Saturday, May 20th at 1:00 p.m. at Prairie Hill Evangelical Free Church, preceded by a visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m.
